Class Descriptions (Kids)

Creative Movement (3 and 4 yrs)
Young children explore dance through guided improvisations increasing rhythm and social skills using basic dance techniques. Fundamental positions and steps of ballet, modern and jazz are introduced in a creative manner. 45min.

Creative Drama (4-6 yrs)
Explore the aspects of performing through drama games and exercises using music, stories, costumes, and props. 45min.

Pre-Ballet/Tap I (5 yrs) / Pre-Ballet/Tap II (6 yrs)
A fun and imaginative combination of simple ballet and tap steps to encourage rhythm, flexibility and increase dance vocabulary. This class is designed to inspire young dancers to express themselves through movement. Emphasis is on learning fundamental positions and steps of ballet and tap. 60min.

Ballet Levels A & B (7-8yrs)
Serious ballet training begins at this age. Students are exposed to the discipline and beauty of the art form. 60min.

Ballet Levels C & D (9 yrs-up)
For the older child entering their dance training (or younger child with at least 2 years of ballet). Designed to increase understanding of the mechanics of the body relating to classical dance. Two to three classes per week required. 60/90min.

JAZZ   for Children/Teens (5 yrs-up)
These classes are designed to help children develop confidence, muscle strength, coordination, musicality and self-expression. Explore many styles and techniques including traditional & contemporary Jazz, Fosse, and Broadway dance. 60/90min.

Hip-Hop  for Children/Teens (5 yrs-up)
A 1 hr. class focusing on the popular, urban, youth culture style of dance (originating on the street), providing a funkier edge to the basic styles of dance.

Tap  for Children/Teens (7 yrs-up)
Style of American theatrical dance, distinguished by percussive footwork, that marks out precise rhythmic patterns on the floor. Young students learn fundamental tap technique to enhance rhythm and motor skills.

PLEASE NOTE:
Levels are provided as a guide; students showing greater ability may be moved up at the discretion of the instructor.
