calorie-burning, dance-fitness party.
The slow, gentle, flowing movements of Tai Chi and Qi Gong hide the incredible number of joint rotations that occur as shoulders, elbows, hands, and waist move while the weight continually shifts from leg to leg as each rises, sinks and extends - all of which increases the flow of natural lubricant and nutrients to the joints and the fascia (the body's connective tissue) thereby increasing strength, flexibility and range of motion.
Key West Modern Dance is a program that provides a unique vacation-study experience. The yearly-changing faculty is comprised of teachers from the current crop of dancers of the most imporant modern dance companies in America. The three daily classes provide an intensive training in some of the fundamentals of modern dance and different techniques for a total of 15 dance classes in 5 days.
The Keys Community School of the Arts was formed to ensure that the need for this integral part of our culture is not left unfulfilled within our community.
Our mission is to bring quality arts education to the Florida Keys Community through our summer programming and arts outreach in the Monroe County school system.
The Waterfront Playhouse has been entertaining Key West audiences for over 70 years. Located in the heart of Key West’s historic Mallory Square, this not-for-profit, professional theater attracts locals and tourists with a wide range of theatrical fare. The Playhouse is an intimate 150-seat theater located steps from Key West’s nightly sunset celebration.
The Tennessee Williams Theatre is home to our "DanceWorks" concerts every year. They have a full season of visiting and local artists performing throughout the year.
Key West’s beloved Red Barn Theatre produces regional premieres of vibrant new plays and musicals. Whether premiering new scripts or working with the classics, Red Barn Theatre has spent the last thirty-two years committed to nurturing artistic excellence within the local and national arts community.
